First National Bank offers an easy and convenient way of closing your existing account with another bank and opening a new account with FNB. The forms you need are provided below for your convenience.
VISA Debit Card
It works just like a check, only faster. There is no checkbook to carry. No check to write. No waiting for check approval. It is accepted all over the world. You can use it to get cash from an ATM. It's your ATM card and checkbook rolled into one.
If you open an account at the Staunton, Bethalto, Maryville, Mt. Olive or Hamel location, you will walk out with your VISA debit card that day.
To activate your new VISA Debit Card, call our automated system at 1-800-214-4185 or call First National Bank at 618-635-2234.
To report a lost or stolen debit card during regular banking hours, please call 618-635-2234.
To report a lost or stolen debit card after business hours, please call 800-264-4274.
Debit Card Protection During Data Breaches
As you may be aware, there have been a number of breaches of debit card data at several national retail stores. While First National Bank has no control over these debit card breaches, we want to assure you that when there is a breach we will work with our debit and credit card processors to identify all customers that were impacted. These customers will then be contacted and new debit cards will be issued.
There is no way to tell when or where the next breach will occur, but we have some early detection tips for you. If you haven’t already done so, sign up for our Internet Banking. Simply go to our website at www.fnbstaunton.com and in the upper right hand corner you will see Internet Banking login boxes. Underneath those boxes, click on the word, “Enroll” and follow the instructions. Once you have access to Internet Banking, make it a habit to check your bank account daily for any suspicious charges. If you feel your account has been compromised, call at 618-635-2234 immediately and ask for Carol or Karen.
You may also set up email/text alerts with the “Notify Me Alerts” feature located in the main menu of our Internet Banking. For example, if your balance dips below a certain amount, you will receive an email/text. You can even receive an alert if a transaction over a certain amount clears (you can set the amount for whatever you like). If you need help setting up these alerts, we will be more than happy to assist you. Call Robin or Casey at 618-635-2234.
Also, if you plan on going on vacation, you can call Carol or Karen at 618-635-2234 to notify us. That way your transactions will be approved.
Finally, for those of you who have had your debit cards compromised recently, we want to say thank you for your patience and understanding. We know how frustrating it can be and truly appreciate your cooperation.

Turn Your Debit Card On/Off
When you go on vacation, make sure to contact our VISA debit card department by calling Carol or Karen at 618-635-2234. They will make sure your debit card transactions are approved. But what happens if you accidentally lose your debit card while on vacation, or even when you're at home? We have a solution!
Use the First National Bank in Staunton mobile app to easily turn your Visa debit card on or off. This feature lets you take control of your First National Bank Visa® Debit Card and protect against unauthorized use. If you have misplaced your card, turn it to the OFF position. If you find it, and feel your account has not been jeopardized, turn it back ON and continue to use your card. If you use your card infrequently, or are traveling without your card, turn it OFF. Then turn it on when you are ready to use. You are in control. Your mobile application shows you whether your card is ON or OFF!
Turning your card OFF only impacts future debit card (point of sale and ATM) transactions. Any previously authorized transactions will be paid, and any recurring transactions you had previously set up will still occur. Turning your card OFF will not affect your checks, mobile or internet transfers, bill payments, or any other type of transactions in your account(s).*
If you don't currently have our mobile app, you can report a lost or stolen ATM or VISA debit card by calling First National Bank at 618-635-2234. If it is not during working hours or on a holiday call 1-800-264-4274, press option #3 and follow directions.
*In all situations it is your responsibility to review activity in your accounts for propriety and to assure that any scheduled or recurring transactions occur when your card is OFF.

VISA Gift Card
Gift cards come in denominations from $10 to $750. Gift cards are available at any of our 9 locations.
Automatic Transfer Services
Automatic transfers will be made to your checking or savings account from another account. Transfers are made in $50 increments. Simply complete an authorization form at any of our branch offices.
Automatic Overdraft Privilege - Checkguard 24
- Pre-authorized overdraft limit of $500 for eligible accounts.
- Avoid returned check fees by merchants.
We offer a useful feature on some of our checking account products – Overdraft Privilege. With this feature we will pay your non-sufficient funds (NSF) checks and fees up to a pre-approved limit. You will be charged the normal per item $27 NSF handling fee. When faced with unexpected bills, your Overdraft Privilege is a convenient and dependable source of temporary cash. Your Overdraft Privilege will be available for checks, in person withdrawals, ACH, Internet Banking, telephone banking and mobile banking transactions. Your Overdraft Privilege would also be available for your debit card transactions if you to choose to opt-in to our Overdraft Services for Debit Card Transactions. The overdraft must be repaid within 30 days to remain in good standing to keep your Overdraft Privilege available. FNB will not pay an overdraft if the $500 privilege amount has been exceeded. This would include any NSF fees, if applicable.

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means to you:
When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
Electronic Tax Payments
